I'm not footing the bill for Your stupidity.

I guess I'm getting old and kooky enough to write to my government officials and send them the kind of rambling anger you guys are used to:

23 September, 2008

Representative/Senator/Mr. President,

I'm writing you to express my deep displeasure with the government's newly proposed $700 billion Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP) to fix the current economic crisis in this country.

I'm against it; one hundred percent against this bill.

As a young adult, I made the mistake of misusing my credit. I dug myself out of that hole, and have learned to live my life within my means. When I moved to Nevada, I saw houses going up in price and people purchasing second and third and fourth homes as investments; never planning on actually living in them, driving up rental prices for people that couldn't afford a home, and doing all of this with free money from banks that took good sense and tossed it out the window.

I saw people being offered loans they could never actually pay; but greed and lack of forethought enticed them to sign on the dotted line, no matter what the basic math told them.

The bailout is reportedly going to cost each taxpayer $6,000.00. Six thousand dollars of my tax money will be going to help those people and the banks that enabled them to do so? six thousand dollars that could be put into programs to help those who actually deserve it?

I say "No." This bill is a total slap in the face to every American that's worked hard to get where they are and intelligently managed their finances.

We live in a free market economy, where those that are foolish fail and pay the price. Let those responsible fail. Be brave enough to face what the Government has allowed to happen, then be wise enough to put the pieces back together intelligently.

Please, do not put this program into effect.

no, i didn't call myself "SlappyJack" in the letters, fools.

Go here, get your officials adresses send them something similar.

Speak your mind, or you have no one to blame but yourself.

Fuck the Banks.

Fuck those greedy bastards that overextended themselves.

Fuck those that didn't pay attention in school and are now bad at math.

Fuck those that saw the math but are so wrapped in their reality-television-keep-up-with-the-jonses-disneyfied-everything-is-roses sense of the world that they didn't care.

Let them fall on their faces and have to start from zero again.

Let the whole messed-up system fall apart. We'll all be better off in the long run for it.

Trust me, It's the right thing to do. You know it, too.
